The destabilization of the situation in Kazakhstan allowed Russia to strengthen its presence in this country – it is directly related to the protests.

This opinion was expressed on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel by international expert Ruslan Osipenko.

The United States, he believes, will no longer be able to help Kazakhstan in any way.

“Because, in fact, it was a special operation of the Russians, who used the confrontation between the elites inside Kazakhstan in order to return Kazakhstan to the fold of the former Soviet Union, which Putin dreamed of before leaving the political arena. It was a lightning-fast operation. This is confirmed by the fact that in fact, now the protests will be curtailed, we will see this in the near future, and Kazakhstan is falling into the zone of influence of the Russian Federation, “says Osipenko, explaining that Russia is strengthening its position before negotiations with the United States.

The expert also added that Ukraine should learn its lesson from the protests in Kazakhstan.

“I believe that everything was done filigree from the point of view of Russia. They were waiting for this request from Tokayev, the incumbent president, in order to actually occupy Kazakhstan, limit its sovereignty. For Ukraine, this is a great example – how we do not need to do and carry out these special operations,” – noted Osipenko.

He called the events in Kazakhstan a signal for NATO – Russia carried out a “legally impeccable” operation.

“They secured the request of the incumbent president, which they wanted to do in Ukraine. But they did not succeed, because [in Ukraine] a civil society was formed, and the society was already acting separately from the country’s leadership. That is, resistance began. In Kazakhstan, the society did not have time to organize And it seems to me that it will not resist separately. Therefore, the protest will be suppressed, and the bases of the Russian Federation will appear there, “he summed up.

Protests in Kazakhstan: what is known

Protests have been held in Kazakhstan since January 2. People took to the streets of cities due to the rise in prices for liquefied gas . Later, citizens began to demand the resignation of the president, the government, and the introduction of democratic changes. During the actions, law enforcement officers used force against the protesters.

In connection with the protests, the country’s President Kassym-Zhomart  Tokayev accepted the resignation of the government . He decided to transfer the interim duties of prime minister to Alikhan Smailov.

Nursultan Nazarbayev left the post of chairman of the Security Council of Kazakhstan . The Security Council was headed by Tokayev.

The President of Kazakhstan asked for help  from the heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), so that the  troops of the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were sent to Kazakhstan  for a limited period of time to “stabilize and normalize the situation.”

On January 7, the country’s Interior Ministry announced that since the beginning of the protests, 26 protesters have been killed, 18 have been wounded, and more than 3,000 have been detained by law enforcement officers. In clashes with protesters across the country, 18 police and National Guard officers were killed, and 748 were wounded.

  1. Kazakhstan is not a small country. It is actually quite big. If mafia land wants to control it, it will need more than a mere handful of killers. It’ll need an army group. This weakens its position with Ukraine. Those in charge in the West will hopefully take advantage of this fact. Thus far, the West has done nothing but to open doors of opportunities for the rodent.
