The Russian military in Kazakhstan will be led by the general who carried out the operation to occupy Crimea

General Andrei Serdyukov, who in 2014 led the special operation to seize Crimea, will lead the  Russian “peacekeepers” as part of the CSTO troops in Kazakhstan.

According to the representative of the RF Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov, the period of stay of the RF “mission” in Kazakhstan is limited. But he did not give exact dates.

Serdyukov was the coordinator on the territory of the occupied peninsula in the process of its capture. The general also commanded a group of Russian occupation forces in Donbas and operated under the name of Sedov.

On October 4, 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Serdyukov as commander of the Russian Airborne Forces.

The Ukrainian military prosecutor’s office has sent an indictment against the Russian to the court; he faces up to 15 years in prison.
