The chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, said that Moscow did not have and does not have plans to attack Ukraine.
She said this at a press conference following the autumn session of the upper house, reports “TASS” .
“Russia had no plans to attack Ukraine and does not have any. According to the latest polls, 80% of our citizens consider the Ukrainian people a brotherly people. And therefore, the whole fake history of information (about the impending attack) is absolutely obvious,” she said.
According to her, now there is an active military development of the territory of Ukraine by NATO countries.
“There is an active military development of the territory of Ukraine, although the Constitution of Ukraine prohibits the deployment of foreign military bases. It is called differently, but in fact, there is an active military development of the territory of Ukraine, with which Russia has the longest border … This causes us, certainly a serious concern, “Matvienko noted.
She also added that Russia allegedly has the right to deploy troops on its territory of the Russian Federation, where it sees fit.
“I can firmly assure you that in Russia there is a scenario of adequate measures for all cases of development of events. We reliably protect our border, here none of our citizens should have any doubts about this. The borders of Russia are protected reliably, and we have the right to deploy our troops, to conduct exercises on our territory where we deem it necessary, in order to adequately respond to the challenges that arise, “Matvienko said.
