On December 22, a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group was held , which makes it possible to “attest to restrained optimism” regarding a possible de-escalation of the situation in Donbass and the unblocking of the peace process.

The press service of the OP informs about this  .

At the meeting, a common understanding was reached on the need to resume the ceasefire within the framework of the relevant measures agreed on July 22, 2020, which is confirmed, in particular, by the OSCE representatives.

Andrey Kostin, acting first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, said that “for the first time in a long time, there is a real opportunity to ensure silence on the contact line in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.”

“The Ukrainian side is completely ready for this. It is important that we saw the readiness of the other side for this step,” he added.

It is also reported that the Ukrainian side also continues to work in all available formats to release the detainees, open the checkpoint, and ensure the implementation of other agreements in the interests of all Ukrainians on both sides of the contact line.

As UNIAN reported earlier, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded in the area of the Joint Forces (JF) operation over the past day .
