The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the admission of foreign military personnel to Ukraine to participate in multinational exercises in 2022.

According to a UNIAN correspondent, 318 MPs of Ukraine voted for the  presidential law “On the approval of the decision of the President of Ukraine on the admission of units of the armed forces of other states to the territory of Ukraine in 2022 to participate in multinational exercises” (6359).

The adoption of the law makes it possible to make a decision by the President of Ukraine on the admission of units of the Armed Forces of other states to the territory of Ukraine in 2022 to participate in multinational exercises. In particular, we are talking about multinational training for training units of the armed forces – “United Efforts – 2022”, Ukrainian-American exercises “Rapid Trident – 2022”, Ukrainian-British exercises “Cossack Mace – 2022”, multinational exercises “Light Avalanche – 2022 “, the Ukrainian-Polish exercises” Silver Saber – 2022 “, the Ukrainian-American exercises” Sea Breeze – 2022 “, the Ukrainian-Romanian exercises” Riverine – 2022 “, the multinational exercises” Maple Arch – 2022 “and the exercises” Viking – 2022 “.

The first annex to the law states that the strategic course for Ukraine’s acquisition of NATO and EU membership, as well as the difficult current politico-military situation and Ukraine’s recognition as a member of the NATO Enhanced Opportunities Program create the need to maintain and increase the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including and by conducting multinational exercises on the territory of Ukraine with the involvement of units of the armed forces of NATO member states, countries participating in the Partnership for Peace program and partners.

According to the explanatory note, 106 million 548.33 thousand hryvnias (of which 52 million 072.59 thousand hryvnias – on the territory of Ukraine) are provided in 2022 to finance the costs associated with the preparation and conduct of multinational exercises on the territory of Ukraine and abroad. …

These funds are planned to be allocated within the allocations of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for 2022 under the budget program “Support of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, training of personnel and troops, medical support of personnel, military service veterans and their families, war veterans” in the areas of “Training of troops, conducting operations and international exercises “,” Purchase of fuels and lubricants “and” Housing and operational support “.
