Oleksiy Arestovich, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, assures that the US has shifted the sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and plans to disconnect Russia from the global SWIFT payment system to another “basket” .

Arestovich said this in an interview with Radio Liberty , answering a question about the consequences for the Russian Federation in the event of a large-scale attack on Ukraine, which the United States is preparing.

“There is a package of economic sanctions that is very painful, a package of political sanctions, sanctions against … We can say that another very terrible” zrada “, which, by the way, is being dispersed. “Nord Stream.” This is what was canceled in the draft budget of the Ministry of Defense (US). It simply was not canceled, but it was transferred to another “basket”, – said Arestovich.

To the clarifying question whether these measures had been dropped from the agenda, he answered in the affirmative.

“This ‘basket’ will work, they were simply transferred to the ‘basket’, which will work if Russia goes. They were not canceled at all, but simply transferred to the ‘basket’ with punishments,” said the adviser to the head of the OP.

To the journalist’s question: “That is, even if not within the framework of the US defense budget, but such an action, in particular, against Nord Stream 2, so that it is still not launched, maybe?”, Arestovich noted that “even Germany, which is very interested, has confirmed that if Russia invades Ukraine, the operation of Nord Stream will be impossible. “

As UNIAN reported earlier, on December 7, US President Joe Biden and Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held talks with the help of a closed video link . During the conversation, Biden warned the Russian president about decisive economic and other measures in the event of an increase in military activity on the border with Ukraine.

After the talks, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that Biden refused to make concessions to Putin on the issue of Ukraine’s NATO membership prospects .

Sullivan also found it difficult to say whether Putin finally decided to attack Ukraine. At the same time, the national security adviser suggested that Putin could abandon plans to invade Ukraine in exchange for launching Nord Stream 2.

On December 9, a telephone conversation took place between Zelensky and Biden .

Biden had opened the Pandora’s Box by allowing NSII to continue. It’s also because of his complete failure in Afghanistan that encourages our enemies to make their moves. It goes to show everyone what far-reaching consequences a bad US president can have.
