The Belarusian authorities banned the import of meat, milk, salt and other goods from “unfriendly countries”

From January 1, 2022, Belarus will impose a six-month ban on the import of a number of goods from states “pursuing discriminatory policies and unfriendly actions towards the country.” The agency “Belta” said the press service of the Belarusian government.

According to the decree of the government of Belarus, import restrictions will affect the European Union and its member states, the USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, Great Britain, Montenegro and Switzerland, the Swiss Confederation.

Among the goods under the embargo are cattle and poultry, pork, sausages, milk and dairy products, vegetables, fruits, nuts, confectionery, salt and “other food products.”

The press service of the Belarusian government stressed that the import ban contains a number of exceptions. In particular, it will not touch upon goods imported by Belarusians for personal consumption, goods intended for baby food, and a number of items of critical import.

On December 2, the European Union adopted a new, fifth package of sanctions against Belarus in connection with the  migration crisis . They were joined by the United States, Great Britain and Canada. Enterprises of the aviation, tourism, chemical and other industries of Belarus, as well as security officials and people from the circle of Alexander Lukashenko fell under the restrictions.

On December 6, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry stated that the sanctions are illegal, aimed at undermining the sovereignty of Belarus and deteriorating the well-being of its citizens. In response, the Belarusian authorities will impose a ban on the import of goods, expand “black lists” for foreigners and resort to other “non-public steps,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

  1. I seem to have heard something like this 8 years ago from your boss. Of course you won’t suffer, or your mafia thugs, just the people that didn’t elect you.
