The Verkhovna Rada registered a bill on the ratification of the financial agreement “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II”, which provides for Ukraine to receive a loan of 200 million euros from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

“These funds (200 million euros – UNIAN) will be used to purchase new buses, trolleybuses, trams and metro cars. In addition, the project provides for the construction and modernization of tram and trolleybus lines and other works in the cities of Cherkassy, Belaya Tserkov, Kamenskoe , Dnipro, Lviv, Kremenchug and Zaporozhye, “the message says.
According to Deputy Finance Minister Oleksandr Kava, if the law is adopted by the end of 2021, then from next year the first contracts for the supply of new ecological public transport for Ukrainian cities are expected to be signed.
“The adoption of the law on the ratification of this financial agreement is a rather important step, this will provide an opportunity to provide Ukraine with legal grounds for further implementation of the project. If the law is adopted by the end of 2021, then from next year we expect the signing of the first contracts for the supply of new environmentally friendly public transport. for the cities of Ukraine “, – said the official.

The project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II” is a continuation of the project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine I”, jointly with the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which has been already being implemented since May 2017 in Kiev, Kharkov, Lutsk, Odessa, Lvov, Zaporozhye.
