The German government has called on members of the US Congress to abandon sanctions against the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline .

Writes about this Axios with reference to the documents.

In Germany, they believe that the sanctions “weaken” confidence in the United States and “ultimately harm transatlantic unity.”

Berlin continues to insist that the gas pipeline does not pose a threat to Ukraine as long as gas is transited through its territory.

Recall, according to IMF forecasts, the launch of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline could lead to a 40% reduction in Ukraine’s gas transit revenues , to $ 1.2 billion a year until 2024, while the current transit contract with Gazprom is in force. …

Ukraine wants to extend the gas transit contract with Gazprom for 15 years.

Yuriy Vitrenko, chairman of the board of Naftogaz Ukrainy, believes that Russia is deliberately reducing the volume of gas transit through Ukraine in order to blackmail Europe and force it to certify Nord Stream 2 as soon as possible.

  1. I said for years that Germany is not an ally of Ukraine, and was hammered by Knut, Joe & co for it. It is sad but true. BTW, Germany is not an ally of the United States either. Time to dump the Normandy Format and have the US, Denmark, Poland and Lithuania involved instead of Germany and France. No ukrainian leader can accept ruSSian lackeys as negotiators and partners.
