Sergei Shoigu: US bombers in the exercises worked out the use of nuclear weapons against Russia

During the exercise, American bombers worked out the option of using nuclear weapons against Russia. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe, Interfax reports.

According to Shoigu, the training took place during the exercises of the US strategic forces Global Thunder.

“Ten strategic bombers were practicing the option of using nuclear weapons against Russia almost simultaneously from the western and eastern directions,” Shoigu said, stressing that the planes were approaching the Russian border at a distance of 20 kilometers.

Shoigu also noted that the activity of the American military near the borders of the Russian Federation has increased. According to the Minister of Defense, over the past month, about 30 flights were made to the borders of Russia, which is 2.5 times more than in the same period in 2020.

The Global Thunder exercise, in which the United States is practicing the combat capability of units equipped with nuclear weapons, was held in early November. These exercises are held annually.

On November 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the West was aggravating the situation on the borders of the Russian Federation. According to Putin, the United States and its allies are “superficial” about Moscow’s demands not to cross the “red lines.”
