The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal visited Lutsk Motor Repair Plant, which is a part of Ukroboronprom, as part of a working trip, where he got acquainted with the activities of the state enterprise.
This year LRZ performed overhaul and handed over 18 aircraft engines to the domestic customer and is currently working on a foreign order.
At the same time, the head of the Concern Yuri Gusev noted that “the plant is ready to repair 8 aircraft engines such as RD-33, AL-31F.”
The Prime Minister was also informed that the production base of the state-owned enterprise has been about half renovated in recent years. In particular, in 2021, “Motor” received a new American machine, there are also Swiss and German equipment.
In turn, Denis Shmygal said that in the coming years Ukraine plans to allocate significant funds for the aircraft industry.
“Last year, we updated the Strategy for the revival of aircraft construction in Ukraine. In the draft budget submitted by the Government for next year, UAH 2 billion (approximately $ 76 million at the current exchange rate) is planned for the aircraft industry. This includes conducting research, new developments, and modernization of aircraft, ”said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that LRZ “Motor” specializes in the overhaul of aircraft turbojet double-circuit engines with afterburner AL-31F, AL-21F-3T and RD-33 (for MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, as well as Su-24 front-line aircraft).
Thus, it is known that in March and May of this year the state enterprise concluded agreements with the Ministry of Defense on repair of four RD-33 turbojets (installed on MiG-29) and restoration of a similar number of AL-31F engines (installed on Su-27 fighters).
