The first patrol boat OCEA FPB 98 for the Marine Guard will arrive in Ukraine next spring

The first French patrol boat of OCEA for the Marine Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine will arrive in Ukraine in the spring of 2022.

This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky during a visit to the French shipbuilding company OSEA.

Denis Monastyrsky inspected the progress of construction of OCEA FPB 98 boats, which is carried out under a contract between OSEA and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In November 2021, the first boat should be launched, further factory tests of our vessel will be conducted. Earlier it was  reported that the first OCEA FPB 98 for Morokhorona will be launched in October.

“In the spring we are expecting him in Odessa. In addition, the relevant training will be conducted by the Ukrainian crew of this boat, as well as we will train technical maintenance personnel, “said Denis Monastyrsky.

The head of the law enforcement agency noted that these vessels are extremely necessary for the Marine Guard of the SBGS to ensure the interests of the state and society at sea in the Azov-Black Sea basin.

Denis Monastyrskyi stressed that an important condition of the contract is the fact that 5 out of 20 boats will be manufactured in Ukraine. Which will allow you to self-service ships and develop your own production.

In 3 years, Ukrainian border guards should receive 20 OCEA vessels for border protection, surveillance operations and counteraction to sabotage and reconnaissance groups of enemy countries.

We will remind that on July 22, 2020 in Nikolaev in the territory of shipbuilding and ship repair plant “Nibulon” the contract concerning implementation of the Ukrainian-French project of strengthening of system of sea safety and protection of border of Ukraine is signed.

Under the terms of a framework intergovernmental agreement signed in Paris on November 19, 2019 by the interior ministers of Ukraine and France, a quarter of the order will be fulfilled by a domestic shipbuilding company using French technology.

The agreement was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on March 4, 2020. It provides loans to the French government and leading European banks for shipbuilding in the amount of 136.5 million euros.
