Ukravtodor reported that for the first time in 50 years, repair work is being carried out on the M-13 Kropyvnytskyi-Platonove highway (to Chisinau), which is a strategically important route connecting Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts with the neighboring Republic of Moldova.
The M-13 highway was built in the 1960s.
“For more than half a century without thorough repairs, the concrete pavement of the road has practically collapsed,” the statement reads.
Works in the Nikolaev area started. The first section of the 23-kilometer-long repair section begins at the border with the Kirovohrad region and ends at the intersection with the national road H-24 Blagoveshchenske-Mykolayiv.
Employees of the contractor began preparatory work and dismantling of the destroyed concrete slabs at the site.
According to the results of the tender, the repair is performed by Avtostrada.
“According to the project, the old concrete pavement will be replaced by asphalt concrete. 23 kilometers is just the beginning. We plan to cover the overhaul of 81 kilometers of the M-13 road in Mykolayiv region, ”said Andriy Ivko, Deputy Chairman of Ukravtodor.
