The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow began an inspection after a local resident complained that a precinct officer hit her in the face with the words “I am power here.” This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The incident took place on October 30 in the Alekseevsky area. As the victim, Diana Maltseva, told the Committee Against Torture, district police officer Aleksandr Burdenok came to her home and demanded that he be allowed to inspect the apartment on the basis that a person liable for military service was registered there.
Maltseva explained to the policeman that this person does not actually live in the apartment, but the officer went inside anyway – despite the fact that the landlady did not allow this to be done. According to the victim, when she asked to show her identity card, the policeman took out the document and hit her on the cheek, while saying: “I am the power here”, “Have you messed everything up here?”, “I’ll put you all here”.
After the incident, Maltseva went to the emergency room, where she was diagnosed with a bruise of the soft tissues of the buccal region, a bruise of the left wrist joint and an abrasion of the right hand, and then wrote a statement to the Investigative Committee and the Internal Security Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow noted that the policeman, in turn, declared about the woman’s “inappropriate behavior” and “inappropriate actions” on her part.
