A French satellite with a Kharkiv unit was launched into orbit

SYRACUSE 4a spacecraft with heat exchanger from Kharkiv JSC “FED”.

Kharkiv JSC “FED” together with the Center for Technical Physics of the State Aerospace University. Zhukovsky KHAI has developed and manufactured a unique heat exchanger for spacecraft mounted on a geostationary telecommunications satellite SES-17.

On October 23, the satellite and the French military spacecraft SYRACUSE 4a were launched into orbit.

Its total weight is 6.4 tons, and it was manufactured by the Franco-Italian company Thales Alenia Space. It was they who ordered a thermoregulatory hydraulic accumulator from Kharkiv residents. It works on the two-phase principle of cooling and allows to provide stable work of the onboard electronics of the satellite differing in ultrahigh power.

The manufacturer announced a tender, as a result of which the Kharkiv enterprise won, the development of which was checked several times for compliance with the company’s requirements. 

For the production of the heat exchanger, the development of which began in 2016, a special shop was built and unique welding equipment was manufactured.
