Ukraine is implementing a project to produce 100 MW of hydrogen per year.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal during the VII Kyiv International Economic Forum, reports the National Industrial Portal with reference to Ukrinform .
“The first steps are already taken. The business has responded and has the first contract to produce 100 MW of hydrogen per year. Such a project is already under construction, “the head of government said.
He stressed that Ukraine is one of the few countries that has the potential for mass production of hydrogen. The development of this area will be one of the state strategies, along with the development of other renewable energy sources.
Shmygal said that Ukraine had signed all the necessary agreements for the Green Deal. Thus, under the Paris Agreement, the state has set a goal to reduce carbon emissions by 65% compared to 1990.
“Ukraine needs significant investments for this. According to our estimates – 10 billion dollars annually for 10 years, “- said the official.
According to him, such investments can be attracted with the help of international partners.
In addition, Shmygal said that Naftogaz has set a goal to increase its own gas production by at least 10% this year and next, which is a step towards increasing Ukraine’s energy independence.
