The National Security and Defense Council approved the Defense Plan of Ukraine.

As a UNIAN correspondent reports, NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov said this at a briefing after today’s meeting of the Security Council.

“For the first time in the history of modern Ukraine, the Defense Plan of Ukraine was approved. This is a large document, which has been worked on for almost two years and which clearly provides answers to the challenges that our state faces today,” he said.

According to Danilov, the plan stipulates which agencies should cooperate in what situations and with whom, as well as how the territorial defense joins this cooperation. Danilov did not give any further details.

On May 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law “On the Foundations of National Resistance” (No. 5557).

Also, the head of state registered bill No. 5558 on increasing the number of the Armed Forces in connection with the adoption of the law “On the Foundations of National Resistance”, which proposes to increase the number of the Armed Forces by 11 thousand troops for the Territorial Defense Forces.

On May 25, the text of the bill was published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada . The document regulates the development of territorial defense, the organization of the resistance movement and the appropriate preparation of Ukrainian citizens for it.

The bill provides that the conduct of the resistance movement is carried out with the onset of a special period in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and the territory seized by the aggressor (enemy) during armed aggression.
