That will speed up the military reform and bring Ukraine and the EU closer, – Defense Minister.

By the end of the year, the EU will have deployed a consultative and training mission in Ukraine. Press office of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported that on Wednesday morning.

“We’re doing everything so that by the end of the year, the military consultative and training mission moved from the phase of legal framework to the phase of practical implementation – for the benefits of both Ukraine and the EU”, said Andriy Taran, Ukraine’s Defense Minister.

According to him, Ukraine plans to involve 30 permanent counselors from the EU.

“The implementation of such project will let us bring the best practices and assistance in the process of reforming the system of military education of Ukraine’s Armed Forces that are typical for the EU member countries. There are quite clear initiatives on our agenda, and the signals that we’re sending our EU colleagues are perceived in a quite positive manner. And the steps that Defense Ministry has been doing in the course of the ilitary reform are a tool of rapprochement with the EU”, said the official.

Earlier, Brussels sent experts to Ukraine to specify Ukraine’s needs in the deployment of the consultative and training mission of the EU. Now, the deployment of these specialists is supposed to create a multi-level system of military education in this country. The administrative and management processes, as well as organization structures of the Ukrainian army are supposed to be transformed, too.
