Russia “undoubtedly” party to conflict in Donbas – Zelensky
12.10.2021 14:00The responsibility for the lack of progress in the peaceful settlement in eastern Ukraine lies entirely with the Russian Federation, which is “undoubtedly” a party to the ongoing conflict.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky who spoke at a joint press conference with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen following a 23rd Ukraine-EU summit, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“One of the key topics of the Summit was about Ukraine and the EU coordinating steps to achieve peace in the east of our country. Together with the EU, we are united about the fact that the responsibility for the lack of progress in a peaceful settlement in Donbas lies entirely with the Russian Federation, which is undoubtedly a party to the conflict,” Zelensky said.
The head of state said this would be laid down in a Summit’s joint statement.
The Russian Federation has been systemically denying at all international platforms any involvement in hostilities in eastern parts of Ukraine, claiming a “civil war” has been raging in the said areas.
As reported earlier, the 23rd Ukraine-EU summit took place in Kyiv on Tuesday.
