Golikova: there are three times more cases of covid in Russia this fall than last
The number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia is now three times higher than in the same period a year earlier. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Interfax reports.
The increase in the incidence of new coronavirus infection since the beginning of September 2021 has amounted to almost 31%. The average weekly rate for five weeks was 96.9 cases per 100 thousand population. This is 3.1 times more than in the same period last year.
Russia is close to the milestone of 30 thousand infected with coronavirus per day. Increased incidence observed in 67 regions, said Deputy Prime Minister. According to her, the government, together with regional authorities, has developed measures to protect Russians from the coronavirus without a lockdown.
Golikova added that compared to last year, the incidence of COVID-19 among children has “multiplied”. The Deputy Prime Minister urged to start their vaccination as soon as possible. In total, 47.4 million people received the first component of the vaccine in Russia, and 42.2 million people received the two components.
Throughout the country, 235 thousand beds have been deployed to treat those infected with coronavirus, of which 212 thousand are occupied. In Moscow, out of 12.5 thousand beds, eight thousand are occupied, said the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin at the meeting.
In Russia, in recent weeks, new records of daily morbidity and mortality from coronavirus have been recorded. In the past four days, more than 25 thousand cases of covid have been detected daily in the country, and on October 5, the maximum deaths per day since the beginning of the pandemic was recorded – 895.
