If the Nord Stream 2 starts exploitation of the pipeline without BNetzA certification, it will be a violation of German legislation and can lead to fines

Federal Network Agency of Germany (BNetzA), which is the regulatory body in the energy sphere, has appealed to Swiss Nord Stream 2 AG with the request to provide the evidence of correspondence of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with regulations of the EU as Reuters reported.

“The Federal Network Agency today requested Nord Stream 2 AG to provide information and, if necessary, evidence that all regulatory requirements will be met in the context of operating the pipeline,” Germany’s Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) said.

The issue is about issues of non-discriminatory network access and the integration of the interconnector into the German market area. The regulator noted that the exploitation of the pipeline soon cannot be excluded.

Nord Stream 2 Company, which will pump gas from Russia to Germany, has earlier stated that it has started to fill one of its strings with gas for trials.

It means that the project needs certification by the regulator of the independent operator of the transport system. This process has started on September 8 and can last up to four months. Then, the draft decision will be passed to the European Commission for consideration. Its conclusion should be ready in two-four months.

When the Federal Network Agency receives the conclusion of Brussels, it will have two months to make the final decision on gas pipeline certification. The regulation body has warned that if Nord Stream 2 starts exploitation of the pipeline without BNetzA certification, it will be a violation of German legislation and can lead to fines.

“Nord Stream 2 will continue to undertake all necessary efforts to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations,” the operator said.

As it was reported earlier, the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completely finished as of the morning of September 10. Meanwhile, at the opening of the gas market on October 1, the gas price in Europe reached 100 euros per megawatt/h, or 1,197 U.S. dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.

A group of over 40 MEPs is demanding that the European Commission urgently investigate Gazprom’s manipulation and blackmail. On October 4, the procedure has started with the gas pack of the first string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The works on the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline started in 2018. The cost of the project is over dozens of billions of euros. The construction of the pipeline was partially financed by Gazprom and by five European companies OMV, Wintershall Dea, Engie, Uniper, and Shell.

Gas prices have tripled for Europe now since the vital, new NS2 is completed. Putin was already running foreign policy in Europe and now he’s running energy policy too. He will be deploying nukes in Paris, Milan and London before he dies….
