The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has  decided to make life difficult for employees of scientific organizations and universities. They are planned to be obliged to write reports on trips abroad under agreements, contracts and grants.

About it writes ” Kommersant “.

According to the publication, such a rule is contained in the draft “Rules of accounting for agreements on international scientific and technical cooperation” of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

The document states that employees of scientific organizations will have to report on “agreements on international scientific and technical cooperation for civil purposes.”

Such reports will be required from universities as well. Their employees will have to report on contracts and agreements with “scientific and educational organizations with a share in the authorized capital of foreign citizens and foreign organizations” in Russia.

As UNIAN previously reported, in Lithuania, the Siauliai District Court found a diplomat and former deputy of the Seimas Algirdas Paleckis guilty of espionage in favor of Russia. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison. According to investigators, Paleckis in 2017-2018 was part of an organized group that collected information for Russian intelligence for a monetary reward.

  • Wow, the KGB is back but the Putinistas don’t even have to pay them. Do they really expect what few Russian scientists that are left to report what they learned abroad? Then be tortured to confess to espionage and sent to prison? In essence they are forcing everyone to join the KGB. Schools and companies will stop inviting them and this policy will backfire and even more technicians and scientists will leave Mordor instead of voluntarily stealing information for a fascist dictator.

As if the mafiosi don’t have enough problems keeping their scientists and engineers IN the country. Such a measure will force many academics to either forgo going on trips abroad – which is unlikely or to return home from abroad – which is more likely. And, they will be forced not to interact with international scientific and engineering communities, which will make mafia land even poorer in an academic sense.
