US to ban entry to foreigners vaccinated with Russian Sputnik V – WP

Foreigners vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will not be able to enter the United States – writes The Washington Post with reference to the new rules for entering the country.

According to the new rules, from November, foreign citizens vaccinated with a drug that is not approved by the World Health Organization or the US Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) will not be able to enter the United States , the newspaper said.

WP, citing data from the US Travel Association, writes that about 300 thousand Russians visited the United States in 2019 (the last year for which there is official data). According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Russian vaccine has been approved in 70 countries, where more than 4 billion people live. They claim that the effectiveness of the drug was allegedly confirmed during clinical trials and “real use in a number of countries.”

The US regulator and WHO have approved vaccines for Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sinovac.

In mid-September 2021, the World Health Organization suspended approval of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. According to the deputy head of the Pan American Health Organization ( PAHO) Jarbas Barbosa, violations were found during an inspection at one of the vaccine production plants.

The European Medicines Agency ( EMA) started the registration procedure for Sputnik V in March and has not yet completed it. As of early June, EMA received little production data and clinical data was incomplete , according to Reuters .

  1. “According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Russian vaccine has been approved in 70 countries”

In that case, the 300,000 can go to one of these 70 countries for vacation, instead of polluting the West.
