MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Close attention should be paid to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions as he received a report on the situation at the state border on 27 September, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Close attention should be paid to the Ukrainian section, to what we are going to do there. You see, they are dragging NATO troops into Ukraine. They are setting up actual bases under the guise of training centers. The United States is setting up bases in Ukraine. It is clear that we have to respond to it.” In his words, these matters have been repeatedly discussed during meetings with President of Russia Vladimir Putin. “The president of Russia and I have held and continue holding consultations about these matters and we’ve agreed that some actions need to be taken over there. Otherwise, we will have an unacceptable situation directly at the border of Belarus and Russia tomorrow. Right up to the deployment of missiles with the relevant range. We didn’t sign up for it and cannot allow it to happen. Unfortunately, the leadership of Ukraine spits on its own people and doesn’t hear our concerns,” the Belarusian leader stated.
The head of state asked participants of the meeting about the situation at the Ukrainian border and proposals regarding further actions the Belarusian side has to take. “1,100km is a huge length of the border. Have we demarcated this border? What are Ukrainians doing? Are they working at all to accomplish this border?” Aleksandr Lukashenko wondered.
