Involving the population of the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation is practically the abolition of the Minsk agreements.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, this was stated by the adviser on information policy of the Ukrainian delegation in the Tripartite Contact Group Oleksiy Arestovych on the air of the program “Right to Power” on the TV channel “1 + 1”.

He noted that such actions are a “gross violation of international and national law of Ukraine and virtually the abolition of the Minsk agreements by Russia.”

According to him, it is impossible to imagine any other process that would so destroy the Minsk agreements than “holding elections to the Russian Duma, any elections to the Russian authorities.”

As UNIAN reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notes that the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the occupied Crimea, which will take place in September, will call into question the Russian election process.

The Foreign Ministry also calls on the Russian Federation to cancel the decision to involve the population of the occupied Donbass in the State Duma elections.
