The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the US Ambassador. The reason is the interference in the elections to the State Duma

US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. This was reported by the department itself.

The Foreign Ministry called the reason for calling the interference in the internal affairs of Russia in connection with the elections to the State Duma.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that the Russian side possesses irrefutable evidence of the violation of Russian legislation by the American “digital giants” in the context of the preparation and conduct of elections to the State Duma. In this regard, it was declared about the categorical inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of our country.

Earlier, Interfax reported that the American ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry due to the refusal of TASS and RIA Novosti journalists to receive accreditation for events in New York in memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks . But later, the agency canceled this information.

On the eve of Roskomnadzor demanded from the American corporations Apple, Google, Cloudflare and Cisco not to allow the project of the politician Alexei Navalny “Smart Voting” to bypass the blockages in Russia.

Roskomnadzor is blocking Smart Voting services in Russia, citing the project’s connection  with Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Fund , which has been declared an “extremist organization” in Russia.
