The EBRD has provided Kyiv with a 140 million euro loan for the modernization of heating networks

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided a loan of 140 million euros to the Kyivteploenerho utility company for the development of the capital’s thermal infrastructure .
This was reported by the press service of the bank.
It is noted that thanks to the loan, Kyiv residents will experience the benefits of a modernized and more reliable supply of heat and hot water. The loan funds will be used for the modernization of thermal power plants and individual boilers, as well as the introduction of a new dispatching and monitoring system.
In addition to EBRD financing, the city of Kyiv and Kyivteploenerho will allocate at least 26 million euros of their own funds to modernize the capital’s heating network.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Green City Action Plan (GAP) for Kyiv. Now the city is developing a comprehensive investment program aimed at decarbonization and sustainable development.
Starting in 2019, a number of projects under the Green Cities program have been launched in Kyiv with the support of the EBRD. The projects concern the development of transport infrastructure and modernization of the district heating system in Kyiv.
The total amount of projects is 320 million euros. In particular, 180 million euros – for the modernization of transport and 140 million – the modernization of the district heating system of the capital.
