The Russian Federation spends about $ 5billion annually on the maintenance of occupied areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. This was said by Vice Prime Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksii Reznikov in an interview with Liga.net.
“They spend up to $5 billion a year only on the Donetsk and Luhansk directions. This is $35 billion over a space of seven years. It seems to be insignificant money for a gas country, but still not small. The Russians are very pragmatic people, I have been negotiating with them for two years… If they understand that it is very expensive for them to hold these territories, but it has no sense, and there is the pressure of sanctions, they will look for options how to get out of this. With an attempt to save the face, of course. They will look for a suitable format”, – Reznikov explained.
The Deputy Prime Minister also recalled that Ukraine should be ready for a peacekeeping mission introduction in the future.
“Therefore, we need to be ready for the introduction of some kind of international peacekeeping mission, which will ensure a transition period. Otherwise, the Russians will simply not agree to leave our territories”, – Reznikov said.

According to the paid trollskys infesting civilised people’s internet, there are no katsups in Donbas or Luhansk.
So why are the scum sending and spending 5 Billion a year there.
More to the point, what the hell are they maintaining? The place is an almighty shithole.
Putin’s Russia will implode anyway, russians may want to rid themselves of Chechnya, Tatarstan etc., this may include Crimea and Donbas in the long run.
I’m waiting with the beer and popcorn for the day Russia goes the way of the USSR, it won’t be pretty.
They will not leave any of the territories they have thieved, will never apologise for the death and misery they inflicted and will never pay reparations.
That is until or unless one or a combination of the following events occur:
1/ A democratic revolution, or RSM after our esteemed colleague.
Unfortunately this is unlikely at present. If a revolution did happen, it could bring in something even worse than the putinazis.
2/ A US president with a clearly set out plan to reverse all putler’s gains emerges. Only two such people have this: Marco Rubio and John McCain. Unfortunately John has passed, so that leaves only Rubio. There are a few others who might help: Cruz, Haley, Pompeo. Does anyone know of any more?
3/ The most unlikely possibility of all: an EU that becomes hostile to Russia. For such a fantasy scenario to occur, Germany would need to elect a majority Green government that decides to cancel NS2 and abolish Russia’s favourable trading status. Other shit regimes like France, Italy, Austria and Hungary would need to reverse polarity.
The more the better, although I doubt that the money is being spent on maintenance. It flows into many pockets instead.
