LOT Airlines has started flying flight information in the Simferopol region under the responsibility of Ukraine

The Polish airline LOT has started operating flights in the Simferopol Flight Information District (FIR) under the responsibility of Ukraine.

This was announced by Acting Director of the State Enterprise of Air Traffic Services of Ukraine Andriy Yarmak on  Facebook.

He added that this part of the airspace under the responsibility of Ukraine began to be used more actively by cargo airlines, in particular Cargolux, which operates large aircraft such as Boeing 747.

As reported, in August 2020, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) published an updated Flight Safety Information Bulletin on the safe use of 6 routes (L851, M856, M860, M854, M435, M861). EASA recommends that airspace users use these routes to plan flights over the Black Sea, where the responsibility for air traffic services is delegated to Ukraine.

Since August 27, 2015, UkSATSE has introduced special flight planning and airspace use procedures (the so-called safety case) using a step-by-step approach to the normalization of flights over the high seas in the Simferopol flight information area.
