In the Cherkasy region today began electrification of the railway section 30 km from the regional center to the station named after Taras Shevchenko.

This was announced by Kirill Timoshenko, deputy head of the President’s Office, coordinator of the “Big Construction” program, within the framework of which the project is being implemented.

“Imagine: you live in the regional center, just 200 km from the capital, but there is no convenient communication. Because the railway is not electrified. That is exactly what happened in Cherkassy,” Tymoshenko comments.

Already this year, electric trains will go from Cherkassy to Kiev, and the journey to the capital will take 2.5 hours. There are also plans to launch suburban trains to Gorodishche, Korsun-Shevchenkovsky, Smela and Kamenka and direct routes to Kropyvnytskyi, Kharkov, Lvov, Poltava and Ternopil.

Tymoshenko recalled that now in the Cherkasy region, for the first time in 40 years, the Zolotonosha ring road is being repaired, and the main road of the Zolotonosha – Cherkassy – Smela – Uman region will be completely repaired. Last year, 67 km were renewed on it, this year another 115 km are planned. In general, 250 km of state roads will be restored in the region under the program of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “Big Construction”, and work continues on local roads.

“Taking into account the tourist potential of Cherkasy region, its wonderful nature and hospitality of people, I am sure that high-quality communication will attract numerous guests,” Tymoshenko noted.

Earlier, Kirill Tymoshenko announced the implementation of the project of comfortable city trains City Express in Kiev, Kharkov and Dnipro.
