EASA has started certification of one of the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has started certification of one of the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Urusky, who held an official meeting with EASA Executive Director Mr. Patrick Key on July 7:
“They discussed the development of further cooperation between Ukraine and EASA. Ukraine seeks to integrate into the EU civil aviation community as soon as possible, as well as to monitor more effectively the strategic, organizational and procedural changes taking place in EASA that directly affect aspects of aviation regulation.
He stressed that in June 2021, the EU Council agreed to sign the Common Aviation Area Agreement with Ukraine. We went to this event for a long time. This opens fundamentally new opportunities for cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the aviation sector. We hope that the Agreement will be signed in autumn 2021.
He noted that Ukraine is interested in the certification of its aircraft according to EU standards. After all, Ukraine is one of the few countries in the world that has its own aircraft industry – it manufactures both aircraft and aircraft engines. Therefore, we look forward to working closely and effectively with EASA, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister for Strategic Industries.
“In turn, Mr. Patrick Key announced that EASA has begun certification of one of the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers.
It was agreed to set up a joint working group, which will step by step determine the actions of both parties to ensure the process of certification of Ukrainian aircraft.
There is still a lot to be done by public authorities in charge of aircraft construction to establish the certification process. But we are purposefully moving towards European safety standards in civil aviation, “Urusky stressed.
