The Russian Federation is “dissatisfied” with the “return” of Crimea to Ukraine on the website of the Olympics: the Kremlin was reminded of the Kuriles

The Russian Embassy in Japan is unhappy with the correction of an error on the map on the website of the Summer Olympic Games, where the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea was separated from mainland Ukraine.
This is stated in a message on the embassy’s Facebook page .
“In connection with the publication on the website of the 2020 Olympics, which contains an incorrect image of the territorial affiliation of the Russian peninsula of Crimea, we would like to remind you that Crimea returned to the Russian Federation as a result of the free expression of the will of its residents in a referendum held in full compliance with international standards.” , – the message says.
Thus, according to the embassy, Crimea “is an integral part of the Russian Federation, the question of its ownership is finally and irrevocably closed.”
“We proceed from the fact that the IOC and the Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee will make appropriate corrections to the above-mentioned map, bringing the image of Crimea into line with the obvious legal and objective reality,” the embassy hopes.
At the same time, in comments to the post, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov wrote:
“Yes, yes -” free expression of will “at gunpoint by the invading Russian troops. Crimea is the territory of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation. It is just as obvious that the southern group of the Kuril Islands – Iturup, Shikotan, Kunashir and Habomai – are the territory of Japan.” …
As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 22 it became known that on the official website of the 2020 Olympic Games, Crimea was depicted as isolated from the mainland of Ukraine on the world map occupied by Russia .
On July 23, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that the International Olympic Committee had apologized for the mistake with the separation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea from mainland Ukraine on the website of the Summer Olympic Games.
“As soon as we learned yesterday about the incorrect map on the Olympic website, we immediately contacted the IOC leadership. They apologized for the mistake. In the morning, Tokyo time, the map has already been corrected, ” Kuleba said.
The Tokyo Olympics were supposed to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competitions were postponed for a year, now they will be held from July 23 to August 8.
Recall that an illegitimate referendum on the status of Crimea took place on March 16, 2014. UN, CIS, EU OSCE and the entire civilized world do not recognize its results.
