Channel One did not show the Ukrainian national team at the opening of the Tokyo Olympics. There was an advertisement instead of athletes
The first channel, which broadcasts in Russia the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, did not show the passage of the Ukrainian team.
Immediately after the Uganda national team entered the stadium, followed by Ukrainian athletes, Channel One interrupted the broadcast for an advertisement.
The press service of Channel One explained the break in the broadcast to RBC as follows: “The parade of athletes lasts about two hours, to fulfill commercial obligations, its display is interrupted by advertising several times.”
As noted by Telegram channels, during the European Football Championship, Channel One did not show the very beginning of matches with the participation of the Ukrainian national team – the moment when the anthem was played.
Athletes from 206 countries will take part in the Tokyo Olympics. During the opening ceremonies of the Games, the national teams enter the stadium in alphabetical order (in Tokyo – in accordance with the Japanese names of countries), with the exception of Greece, which always goes first, and the athletes of the host country, who go last.
