In Russia, the site of “Czech Radio” was blocked because of an article about the self-immolation of student Jan Palach in 1969
Roskomnadzor blocked the website of the Russian service of Czech Radio over an article about Czech student Jan Palach, who in 1969 committed self-immolation in protest against the introduction of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia.
The address of the page with the article about Palakh is included in the register of sites with prohibited information, which is maintained by Roskomnadzor. As noted by “Novaya Gazeta”, the blocking applies to the entire site of the Russian service “Czech Radio”.
Roskomnadzor blocked the website of the publication on the basis of the Rospotrebnadzor decision of 17 May. Rospotrebnadzor makes decisions on blocking sites with methods or calls to commit suicide.
An article about Palach was published on the website of the Russian service of the Czech Radio in 2001. It talks about Palach’s personality, the motives of his suicide and another similar protest action.
