New temperature record in Kyiv: Hottest night in 140 years

The temperature on the night of July 15 in Kyiv did not fall below +22.8°C

The night of July 15 turned out to be the hottest of all the years of observations in Kyiv – since 1881. The air temperature did not fall below +22.8°C. This was reported by the meteorological station of the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevsky.

“According to observations of the meteorological station of the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky, the night of July 15 in the capital was the warmest since 1881. The temperature in the morning did not fall below +22.8 degrees,” a statement said.

The observatory noted that 12 temperature records have been set in Kyiv since the beginning of summer.

As it was reported earlier, June 24 was the hottest day in Kyiv for the last 100 years: the average daily temperature was +28.1°C. The maximum temperature in the afternoon rose to +35.5°C, exceeding the previous record for this day in 1924 by 2.3 degrees. And in the last days of June there was recorded five temperature records. For example, on June 25, the average daily air temperature in Kyiv was +28.3°C.
