Servicemen obliged to study Putin’s article about Ukraine in military-political training classes

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered the inclusion of President Vladimir Putin’s article “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians” as one of the topics of military-political training in the army. This was reported by RBC with reference to a source in the Ministry of Defense.

According to the interlocutor of RBC, due to the fact that a large number of servicemen have Ukrainian roots or relatives in Ukraine, the article “caused a great positive response and discussion in the military environment.” Due to the increased attention, it was decided to include it in the list of required topics.

The RBC source also stressed that the key thesis of the article – about the unity of the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples – “is shared by all Russian servicemen.”

Putin’s article “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians” in Russian and  Ukrainian was published on the Kremlin’s website on July 12. In it, he explained in detail his statements that “Russians and Ukrainians are one people, a single whole.”

Putin himself explained that he decided to write an article because of the threat to security and “the intensification of work on the anti-Russia project.” According to him, he thought about her for several months.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the article, said that he was “pleased that a person knows the Ukrainian language.” He also noted that he did not have time to familiarize himself with the material, but stressed that Putin had done “deep work.”

On July 12, the satirical news agency Panorama reported that Sergei Shoigu “ordered that the contents of Vladimir Putin’s article on Ukraine be brought to the attention of the personnel of the Armed Forces within 24 hours.”
