Facebook deletes Ukrainian ambassador’s post about Putin’s ‘one people’ words

Facebook viewed the ambassador’s post as inciting hatred

The social network Facebook recognized the post of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic Yevhen Perebyinis as inciting hatred, and deleted it. The post criticized the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about Ukrainians and Russians being ‘one people’. This was reported by Perebyinis on his Facebook page.

“My post was deleted. I wonder which word from it contradicts the rules and incites hatred? After all, I did not name anyone directly. But ‘they’ understand that ‘they’ are ‘they’, – the ambassador wrote.Related: Zelensky reacts to Putin’s article about Ukraine

Perebyinis also attached a screenshot of the deleted post to the new message. It includes: “What one people? What brothers? Considering how purposefully and cold-bloodedly they (Russians) destroyed us (Ukrainians) during several centuries, we are not even relatives. Normal people do not kill relatives.”

According to a Facebook explanation, the post violates its Community Standards on hate speech and inferiority.

As it was reported earlier, on July 12, the Kremlin’s website published an article by Russian President Vladimir Putin On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians.

  • This is an outrage. I hope and expect that this pandering to fascists will be reversed. I suggest they write to Nick Clegg, who is no Russia-lover, to deal with this matter urgently.
Clegg is the VP for Global Affairs and Communications and an ex LibDem leader.
