Kremlin: Russia is closely watching prosecution of Medvedchuk in Ukraine

Russia is not going to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine, said the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the charges brought against the head of the political party Opposition Platform for Life, Viktor Medvedchuk.

“Of course, we are watching this very thoroughly,” Peskov said, adding that Moscow would like to make sure that it is not about persecution for political reasons, about “some kind of campaign” associated with the desire to get rid of competitors.

“This would certainly be unacceptable from the point of view of the modern state, in terms of the spirit and letter of democracy,” Peskov said.

He also said that Medvedchuk did not ask Russia for assistance or political asylum. “It is unlikely that Russia can give him any help amid the persecution that is taking place now,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

On May 11, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine accused Viktor Medvedchuk and his business partner Taras Kozak of treason and embezzlement of resources in Crimea. The politician’s house was searched.

You’re way out of your depth here Peskov. You know sweet FA about democracy, only totalitarianism and dictators. I’m 100% sure Medvedchuk won’t be poisoned, fall out of a balcony window, or even shoot himself in the back four times.

No, they won’t interfere, but they’ve already decided it is a persecution….
Whofuckingcares what the Kremlin says? Its 99% lies anyway so it is completely worthless and only a tool to mislead. I wouldn’t trust the weather report from the Kremlin.

      • Wonder what the Kremlin would say if Ukraine declared the Opposition Bloc a extremist organisation, and arrested all their leaders and supporters?

        • Good point. Ukrainians banned the Communist Party and the Regions Party was so unpopular after the Maidan that they had to change their name. That is another indication that there was NO support in the Donbas for separatism. None. It was all conjured up by the Kremlin but journalists even today continue to claim there were separatists and rebels. No, just Russian criminals and mercs.

  • ‘Russia is not going to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine, said the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Piss-Cough’.
Apart from murdering Ukrainian troops on their own land, murdering innocent civilians on their own land, torture, multiple atrocities, destruction of property, thieving of mineral and industrial resources, poisoning of wells, poisoning of land and other ecological disasters, operating a massive fifth column of traitors, saboteurs, assassins, thieves, politicians and media figures.
Otherwise entirely correct, you nazi fuckwit.

  • Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform – For Life party, MP Viktor Medvedchuk said that he cannot pay the bail assigned by the court because his accounts and the accounts of his wife have been blocked by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

“I could not pay this money because, as you know, the sanctions were illegally applied against me and my wife, by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council. All accounts, from which one could transfer the money, and the accounts, from which the money could be transferred from so as to pay the bail have been blocked. Yes, I have that kind of money, me and my family had it declared. Unfortunately, I can’t use it”, Medvedchuk said.

He also replied to the question whether there are people who can pay this money.

“Definitely, I think there are such people. I have enough friends to support me in this situation if necessary”, Medvedchuk stressed.
