Politics Alexei Navalny is being transferred from the colony No. 2 in Pokrov, Vladimir region, to the inpatient department of the regional hospital for convicts , the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service reported . This hospital is located on the territory of IK-3 in Vladimir. The FSIN added that Navalny’s health condition is “assessed as satisfactory”, he is examined daily by a general practitioner, and the politician, who went on a hunger strike on March 31, agreed to “vitamin therapy.” In turn, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, answering the question that the state of health of the politician is becoming critical, said that the Kremlin is not engaged in “monitoring the health of Russian prisoners.”
In the IK-3 hospital, where Navalny is being transferred, prisoners are regularly beaten. Former prisoner Dmitry Mudrichenko told about this in an interview with the Vot-tak.tv project. According to him, hospital patients are beaten “for the slightest offense or negligence.” The wards are stuffy cells for five to eight people with closed windows, and the prisoners in them are not allowed to lie in them during the day. It is forbidden even to lean on the bed. Sometimes exceptions are made for an hour and a half for a “quiet hour”, added Mudrichenko. Those who try to protest are beaten and then tied to a bed for several days, preventing them from going to the toilet on their own.
In the hospital, prisoners are tortured. According to several prisoners in 2018, this was reported by the Daily Storm. Activists from among the prisoners collaborating with the prison administration, according to the newspaper’s interlocutors, torture convicts with electric shock – for “re-education” or as part of investigative actions. According to former prisoners, people who cannot withstand torture sign any documents that are required by the administration or investigators. Torture usually takes place in the psychiatric ward of a hospital.
A rally has been announced in support of Navalny. The Ministry of Internal Affairs urged not to go to him, and the Prosecutor General’s Office threatened with criminal liability. After Navalny’s comrades -in- arms announced an all-Russian rally in his defense, the Interior Ministry announced the danger of contracting coronavirus at the rally – as well as the danger of “provocations from destructive persons.” The people, whose actions at the rallies are considered “aggressive” by the security forces, were threatened with arrest and bringing “to responsibility provided for by law.” The Prosecutor General’s Office, in turn, said that participation in actions that would be qualified as mass riots would be considered a criminal offense.
