UK Summons Russian Ambassador Over ‘Malign Activity’

Britain on Thursday said it had summoned the Russian ambassador in the UK to express its deep concern at what it called Moscow’s “pattern of malign activity.”

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said that included “cyber intrusions, interference in democratic processes, and the build-up of military forces near the Ukrainian border and in illegally annexed Crimea.”

It came on the same day the United States announced sanctions and the expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats in retaliation for what Washington says was the Kremlin’s U.S. election interference, a massive cyber attack and other hostile activity.

The British government said it “made clear the UK’s support for the actions announced by President Biden” as Russia’s top envoy in London was summoned to see FCDO Permanent Under Secretary Philip Barton.

“He set out the UK assessment that the Russian Intelligence Services were behind the SolarWinds compromise,” a FCDO spokesperson said in a statement, referring to a hack last year that cybersecurity experts and Western nations blame on Russia.

“He informed the Ambassador that the UK will continue to work with our allies to call out and counter malign operations by the Russian Intelligence Services.”

Barton also stated Britain’s concern at the recent build-up of Russian military forces near the Ukrainian border and in Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014, the spokesperson added.

“These activities are threatening and destabilizing.”

“Russia needs to cease its provocations and de-escalate tensions in line with its international obligations.”

Pathetic response from the UK. This is something I would expect from the Krauts or Frogs. London is the epicentre for laundered Russian money, surely you can achieve a bit more than a few meaningless words?

  • The left in London can mobilize a mob of scum to start massive street protests when a black criminal dies at the hands (or rather knee) or a white copper 5000 miles away, yet a fascist regime threatens the life of a peaceful nation much nearer to home and they don’t give a fuck.
When has the putlerstan embassy ever been picketed? Fucking never.

    • I notice the MailOnline has been taken over by Russian trolls and Trump supporters, or Russians pretending to be Americans. I never saw so much BS on a comments section in years. Who is running the Mail, RT?

      • It now makes me physically sick to read their articles. But the hateful comments are just unbelievable. I am beyond angry.

        • They call it a comments section, it’s a pretty wild claim, it’s nothing more than anti Ukraine and Biden hate fest. It took me 10 minutes to find an article on the latest US sanctions, it was buried so deep, had it been a newspaper it would have been in the sports section. Anything anti Ukrainian is always one of the top stories on there.

          • Knowing ordinary Ukrainians as I do, I don’t see them being intimidated.
But it is truly awful to have no one in the world willing to fight for you.
Do you think it’s going to calm down, or are you contemplating pulling out?
            What’s your gut feel?

            • My feeling is Putin is thumping his chest again. Every time it’s election year, someone has to put up with his moronic behaviour, usually Ukraine. No doubt the sheep will be praising their tough leader, and his willingness to commit wholesale slaughter. I’m going nowhere, and this lot will blow over once Putin re-elects himself.

    • I took your advise and dove into a comments section on a British online paper. I don’t remember which it was but I began to feel it was an Antifa website. No matter what the subject was they were blaming the US for everything. I used to be proud that the US didn’t take any territory after WWII and now I’m wondering…….

      • What paper was that?
The DM is a right wing paper. The vile, hateful comments are almost 100% Trump fans who love fuhrer pootler even more than Trump. Try to think of even one right wing media figure in the states who supports Trump but does not support putler? I identified just one for you: the excellent Mark Levin. The rest are pigs, led by Tucker Carlson.
And that is why there are so many filthy troll scum rooting for fucking putker.

When will the UK announce its plan of action? I hope that it won’t remain with just pointless blather.

    • When will the sun rise in the West? I have lost all faith in the UK government. I can only assume the London financial system is so full of laundered money, that it will collapse if they sanction Muscovy.
