Kremlin rejects possibility of U.S. joining Donbas talks

U.S. policy towards Ukraine precludes this country from joining the “Normandy format” negotiations to resolve the situation in the Donbas, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, RIA Novosti reports.

“With the approaches that Washington demonstrates and applies, it has no business in the Normandy format,” Ryabkov said, commenting on the words of Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Reznikov that Kyiv is interested in involving the United States and Poland in the negotiations.

The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk said that the United States is the only country that can force Russia to fulfill its obligations.

Last week, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Army, General Mark Milley, General Mark Milley, held talks with Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

“We have made it clear that we see threats from Russia and take them very, very seriously,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby later said.

He added that Washington would like Moscow to be “more open” about the troop movements. “While we have learned from the bitter experience to not take at face value the Russians’ statements about their intentions,” Kirby said.

NATO troops in the next few months will hold exercises in Ukraine, the scenario of which will be “to repel a large-scale offensive of the armed forces of the hypothetical aggressor country,” the Ukrainian General Staff said.

“The defensive actions will transition to subsequent offensive to restore the state border and territorial integrity amid the aggression by the neighboring state,” the Ukrainian General Staff said.

Neither have Russia. Russia are the aggressor country and have no rights being involved in talks over a conflict they started. Ukraine have every right to replace the jellyfish with countries that have some spine. Won’t be as easy to manipulate Poland and the US will it Putler?

    • Then we should offer them a choice; you can have the new Normandy format or you can have the Budapest format…

      • No formats. Removal from SWIFT, seize all Russian assets abroad, sanction every Russian bank too. Deport all Russians back to their beloved homeland, then ban anything remotely representing Russian propaganda. If I missed anything let me know.

        • That would be a hell of an ultimatum. The only thing I would add is removal from the international bodies that he’s broken charters or treaties of. Other Despots are watching, learning and waiting. I think its time to move the Warthogs from Estonia to Dnipro. Ukraine is what the ruSSo-Despot wants most. Remember when he said there would be a price to pay when Biden called him a killer? I guess that price will not be paid by the US but by Ukraine. It’s like having a bad day at work so you go home and beat your kids. That’s what we are working with here.

          • Russians are cowards. They are tough guys beating up their women, or torturing some poor Ukraine when he’s tied up, but the US showed Wagner how tough Russians are, and not a peep out of Putler when they got fried.

We don’t believe in blowing a lot of hot air like the European jellyfish and wasting time with talks with the crime syndicate that are wholly useless and absolutely counterproductive. We will simply tighten the sanction thumbscrew.
