“Will aggravate the situation”: the Kremlin said that Ukraine’s accession to NATO will not help it

The press secretary of the head of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, expressed doubts that Ukraine’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance will help it in its confrontation with the Russian Federation .
He said this on Tuesday, April 6, commenting on the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that joining NATO is the only way for the country to resolve the conflict in Donbass.
“We deeply doubt that this will somehow help Ukraine … From our point of view, this will further aggravate the situation. When speaking about joining NATO, one should in no way abstract from people’s opinion, ”Peskov said, referring to the residents of the regions of Donbass occupied by the Russian Federation.
In turn, Zelensky believes that now the most pressing issue for Ukraine is the possibility of obtaining an Action Plan for NATO membership.
“ We strive to reform our army and defense sector, but reforms alone cannot stop Russia. NATO is the only way to end the war in Donbas. The MAP will become a real signal for the Russian Federation, ”he stressed during negotiations with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday, April 6.
Zelensky’s statement sounded against the backdrop of escalation in the Donbass and the pulling of Russian troops to the Ukrainian borders .

Fortunately Peskov, Russian citizens have no say in Ukraine’s future. All these people that took Russian passports in Donbas, gave up the right to be called Ukrainians.
