The Northern Fleet has instituted a special award for the wives of submarine crew members. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the fleet. 

The “Honored Submariner’s Wife” medal will be awarded to the spouses of military submariners who have been married for at least 10 years. In addition, it can also be presented to the widow of a soldier. 

The medal can be awarded upon the recommendation of the commander of the crew of a submarine or formation at the suggestion of the Women’s Council, the press service of the Northern Fleet noted. 

The first awarding of the medals “Honored wife of a submariner” took place on March 19, the professional holiday of submariners. They were received by the wives of the crew members of the fourth generation strategic cruisers of the Borey, Yuri Dolgoruky and Prince Vladimir projects. Since then, about 150 people have received awards.
