TASS: in all state universities it was proposed to create military training centers. They replaced military departments

Military training centers can be created in all Russian state universities, TASS reports, citing an unnamed source in the security forces.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, this proposal is being worked out with all power ministries and departments. In addition, according to the source, officials are discussing a proposal to open military training centers in commercial universities.

Officially, this information has not been confirmed by anyone.

In 2008, military training centers appeared in Russian universities, in which, unlike military departments, they trained contract officers. Military training centers and military departments worked in parallel until 2019, after which they were combined into single military training centers. Now, as noted by TASS, the centers train reserve officers and career officers, as well as privates and reserve sergeants. About 100 military training centers have been created at Russian universities.

According  to the data presented on the website “Statistics of Russian Education”, there are 607 state and 358 non-state universities in Russia.
