Russia is party to conflict in Donbas, not mediator – foreign ministers of G7 countries

The foreign ministers of the G7 countries called on Russia to stop destabilizing Ukraine, having stated that sanctions against it would continue. This was reported by European Pravda with reference to the ministerial statement published by the British Foreign Office.

“We are resolutely opposed to Russia’s prolongation of destabilization of Ukraine, especially against Russia’s actions in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, its neglect of the obligations assumed under the Minsk agreements. Full implementation of the Minsk agreements is the path to peace. Russia is a party to the conflict in the east of Ukraine, and not a mediator”, – the statement said.

The ministers welcomed the adoption of the ceasefire decision on July 27 last year, which they said significantly reduced the violence in the conflict zone.

“However, the conflict continues to claim lives and severely damage critical infrastructure. We deplore the recent military escalation of armed formations supported by Russia on the contact line. We call on the Russian Federation to stop fueling the conflict by providing financial and military support to the armed formations it supports in eastern Ukraine. , as well as granting Russian citizenship to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens”, – the G7 said.

The ministers called on all parties to fully implement the Minsk agreements and stressed the responsibility of Russia in the context of its involvement in the Normandy format and the Trilateral Contact Group in order to achieve a just and lasting political solution to the conflict.

  • After 7 years of intense discussions on the highest politcal level the G7 came to the shocking conclusion that Russia is part of the conflict in Donbas. In 7 years they come to the conclusion that Russia started the war.
