Novaya Gazeta complained about a persistent chemical smell in the editorial office

Novaya Gazeta reported that the entrance to the newspaper’s editorial office in Potapovsky Lane in Moscow was struck by an unknown chemical. In a statement, the newspaper called the incident a “chemical attack.”

The premises retain a persistent, pungent chemical odor, which is felt by all visitors and staff of the editorial office, as well as other organizations located in the building.

Novaya Gazeta spokeswoman Nadezhda Prusenkova told The Insider that none of the editorial staff were injured. As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to emergency services, the content of harmful substances in the air in the building does not exceed the limit values.

Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB are at the scene (the latter arrived, since the editorial office is a secure facility, Novaya Gazeta explained).
