Sakhalin Regional Duma deputy Dmitry Pashov was detained during a business trip to Khabarovsk, Sakh.com and  RIA Sakhalin-Kuriles reported . This information was confirmed by the sources of Vedomosti , TASS and  RIA Novosti .

According to Sakh.com, Pashov was charged in the criminal cases of the “crab king” Oleg Kan , who, before leaving Russia, allegedly transferred his assets to Pashov. The publication did not specify what kind of cases it was talking about. RIA “Sakhalin-Kuriles” reported that the arrest of the deputy may be related to the evasion of customs duties.

It is assumed that Pashov will be held in a pre-trial detention center in Khabarovsk, and then he will be transferred to Sakhalin.

In September 2020, Dmitry Pashov topped the ranking of the richest civil servants and deputies of Russia according to Forbes magazine.

Pashov is the owner of the Moneron crab catching company. It was founded by Oleg Kan. According to the Investigative Committee, Kan remained a beneficiary of the company after leaving Russia.

In the spring of 2020, the host Ksenia Sobchak wanted to buy a stake in Moneron and Kuril Universal Complex, another company founded by Kan. She  had to abandon the deal due to the seizure of the companies’ property.
