Macron insists on hard stance against Russia when it comes to Donbas conflict

The French leader, however, stands for negotiations with Russia in such issues as arms control

President of France Emmanuel Macron insists on keeping the EU’s tough position towards Russia, when it comes to the situation in Ukraine. Macron said so, replying to experts of a research centre of the Atlantic Council, as quoted by RBC. 

“In certain issues, including the situation in Ukraine or in case with oppositioner Alexei Navalny, we need to keep the tough position”, Macron said.

At that, the French leader believes that the dialogue with Russia is still possible on such topics as arms control. According to Macron, it would be impossible to maintain peace in Europe without such approach. 

In November, Presidents of Ukraine and France supported the idea to hold the summit of leaders of Normandy Four countries as soon as possible. 

Earlier, we reported that Macron may visit Ukraine by the end of the first half of the year. It was reported by the country’s Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins.

“At this point, we do not have a date due to the pandemic. I want to be very careful, but I expect that this visit might take place by the end of the first half,” said the ambassador.

  1. That granny-grabbing weirdo is so full of shit he must have a rank odour all around him. The EU has never taken a ‘tough position’ on Russia. If it had used all the tools available at its disposal, the rodent would have been gone before the end of 2014.
    The French people just can’t help electing slimy, treacherous arseholes. Next year they will either re-elect Macron or put Gospodina Le Penkova in as president. In which case Britain will have another Russian lackey to contend with on its borders.

    We are still waiting for this tough position. You pushed PACE to readmit the nazi state. You call for useless dialogue with the nazi state. Is this your idea of a tough stance? Sounds typically French, spineless!
