Rosstat: almost 79 thousand more people died in November in Russia than a year earlier
In November 2020, 219,872 people died in Russia. Such data are provided by Rosstat.
Compared to November 2019, the country recorded 56% more deaths (additional 78,541 deaths).
At the same time, according to Rosstat, the coronavirus became the main cause of death for 19,626 people. In another 3,984 cases, its presence was not laboratory confirmed, but it is also suggested as the main cause. 2,178 people died from other diseases, the course of which was affected by the coronavirus, another 9,857 deaths were diagnosed with covid, but it did not affect the onset of death.
Thus, according to Rosstat, the coronavirus directly or indirectly affected the deaths of 25 788 people – which is a third of the increase in mortality by November 2019.
As stated Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, for 11 months of 2020 the mortality rate increased by 13.8%, with 81% of this increase is associated with the coronavirus.
In October, the number of deaths in Russia, according to Rosstat, exceeded last year’s figures by 30.3% (47,777 additional deaths). From the coronavirus or its consequences, according to the department, 15,607 people died this month.
