Donetsk People’s Republic to detain people with Ukrainian passport during New Year holidays

Curfew abolished in occupied Donetsk during holidays

The so-called Interior Ministry of Donetsk People’s Republic stated that after the abolishing of curfew during the New Year holidays, people with Ukrainian passports will be detained as ND reported.

“The Interior Ministry of Donetsk People’s Republic confirmed that during the abolishing of curfew on New Year holidays, they will detain people who have Ukrainian passport as a document for identification,” the message said.

Such a decision was explained by the impossibility to ‘check the legitimacy’ of the Ukrainian document.

At suspicion of the involvement of the owner of such passports in the ‘illicit activity’, the mentioned person will be transferred to the nearest territorial police department for identification and fingerprinting.

The militants still block five checkpoints at the demarcation line; while all checkpoints for admission of the citizens work at the Ukrainian side.

As we reported, in the Donetsk region, the service center is opened at Novotroitske checkpoint. According to Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, all citizens of Ukraine on either side of the contact line will be able to get social and administrative services, legal aid and use Nova Poshta and Oschadbank services at the service center.

  • “Such a decision was explained by the impossibility to ‘check the legitimacy’ of the Ukrainian document.”

A Ukrainian passport is a hell of a lot more legitimate than the toilet paper you call Russian passports. This is a game two can play, a half decent president would order any Ukrainians with a Russian passport arrested. Then again, he would need to arrest himself and half of Rada.

  • Go figure … the mafiosi are arresting Ukrainians just because they are Ukrainians and this during Christmas time. This is perverted even for Ruskies.
I wonder if this gross injustice and human rights violation will raise an eyebrow in the oh so holy Europe.
